If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Breathe easy and try to calm your anxiety. If you take anything from the replies in your post, please let it be this: Wilmington is a really neat place to live - and so what if you dont absolutely love it (which i think you will)? It is not worth freaking out about one way or the other. I asked him if he ever browsed /r/Wilmington and both of us were in agreement that this place is overwhelmingly negative.

I have a new acquaintance and reddit came up in conversation. Like some others have posted here (and elsewhere in this subreddit) compared to living in a big city the traffic is not bad. Just plan on leaving a bit early if you have to be somewhere around rush hours. When I first moved here I thought the traffic was horrible - that lasted about 5 months before I adjusted to it. I am from a small tobacco town originally. I have been here 8 years and I love it here. u/ArtKeller I was going to post a response, but also wanted to piggyback off of what /u/ldclark92 posted. It is in no way as bad as this myopic subreddit makes it seem. I promise to go below the speed limit in the left lane to clog up traffic, ask for basic restaurant recommendations that can be found online, and complain when things aren’t exactly like the way they are back home, and make you keep repeating things because I can’t understand you with your funny accents.īut I think you see a lot of overreactions by people who haven't gotten out muchĮither that, or people who have only lived in Wilmington and do not know what its like to live elsewhere. Is Wilmington really as bad as some make it seem? I’m coming from a city so I’m used to the issues that cities can bring (congestion, traffic, tourists, etc). That being said, I’ve spent a solid amount of time in the area and really enjoy it. I guess I’m more fearful that I’ve glossed over some of the major issues in the city.

I have an apartment and a job and I’m a fairly good driver, but apologies in advance for another driver clogging up the roads.Īnyway, I’m really wondering about how Wilmington is on a day to day basis, it seems like downtown has some serious homeless/addict issues but I actually haven’t noticed it get too bad when I’ve been there. I’ve been going down to Wilmington the last few years on and off and really fell for all of the outdoor activities available, the beach, downtown, etc. I’m moving to Wilmington at the end of the month and I’ve started to notice this sub tends to skew toward the negative about Wilmington. Yet another moving to Wilmington post (apologies). If you want to promote a link to your candidate, send a message to the mods.
